Too lazy to continually update your twitter and facebook posts manually? Ever thought about automating the proces a little. Its easier than you think thanks to our new favourite website - twitterfeed.

 

Login to Twitterfeed using your OpenID. If you have a Blogger account, you will just need to choose Blogger from the list of possible logins and enter your username. For example, if the URL of your Blogger blog is http://abcdefg.blogspot.com, then your username is abcdefg. After logging in, you will be able to go to your Twitter feeds. This gives you the option to enter a new feed. Click on "Create New Feed". Enter your Twitter name and password, as well as the URL for your RSS feed. Adjust the settings for how often you want Twitterfeed to check your blog for new posts, and click Create.

 

Its that simple. If all goes well this post itself should be pushed thought to twitter, and again autmatically to myspace throught the myspace/twitter sharing app. TF also alows syndication with ping.fm, statusnet and hellotext.

Motorcyclist jailed for 26 hours for videotaping gun-wielding cop

After spending 26 hours in the Baltimore County Jail, Anthony Graber still doesn’t understand what he did wrong.
Sure, the 24-year-old man admits to speeding on his motorcycle, but does that merit having a plainclothes cop pull a gun on him?
Does that merit six state troopers raiding his parents’ home and seizing four computers at the crack of dawn?
Does that merit getting charged with a felony and threatened with five years in prison?
Of course it doesn’t
This is nothing but an obscene case of police intimidation. A Constitutional violation against a man who has served six years in the Air National Guard and who has never been arrested before.

Abandoned cities of the world

 Kowloon Walled City was a loophole, a glitch never meant to exist. It grew organically devoid of building codes and largely absent of legal oversight, a kind of organic tent city times one thousand. As it grew without rules some areas were cut off entirely from natural light and air, crime ebbed and flowed and everything grew densely packed until the government finally intervened – evacuating the city and demolishing what remained.

 Centralia. This once-thriving town had a mine fire decades ago … but it never went out. Warning signs that something was still wrong included: smoking highways, heated underwater gas tanks and person-swallowing sinkholes. Over time most of the town’s residents have moved on though a few insist on staying despite the slowly-spreading and still-burning fire that creeps below.

 Hashima is one of the most remarkable of a series of hundreds of deserted Japanese islands. Once a thriving coal-mining city its population density grew to be the highest on the planet, with workers crammed vertically in ever-growing buildings and walked daily through ever-narrowing streets. Following a drop in coal production the entirely island amazingly shut down though most of its structures still stand. Currently the island is being renovated to create safe tourist paths through the rubble and tilting buildings but for now daring (and illegal) exploration is possible only by hiring a willing private boat driver to take a look.
The island was populated from 1887 to 1974 as a coal mining facility. The island's most notable features are the abandoned concrete buildings and the sea wall surrounding it. It has been administered as part of Nagasaki, Nagasaki since 2005; it had previously been administered by the former town of Takashima.

News.com.au classed as 'adult website' in audit of politicians' internet use

AN audit of politicians' internet use that claimed the scalp of a state minister ranked news.com.au as the most visited "adult website".

NSW Ports and Waterways Minister Paul McLeay resigned this week after results of the audit were revealed.
The audit supposedly showed whether NSW MPs had been visiting adult links such as gambling and pornography sites.
However Legislative Council president Amanda Fazio yesterday revealed the audit had incorrectly classified news sites as adult because they contained links to or advertisements for adult dating sites.
Both news.com.au and smh.com.au were classified as adult sites in the audit.
"The definition of what has been classed as an adult site is something we're reviewing," she said.
"What surprised us... the biggest (site) of what is classed as an adult site being hit by the parliament is the news.com.au site.

7.0 Earthquake rocks Christchurch in New Zealand

A CURFEW has been imposed in Christchurch, New Zealand after a major earthquake caused extensive damage in the nation's second-largest city, Sky News Australia reported today.

Residents in the city of 372,600 were ordered to stay inside between 7pm tonight and 7am tomorrow as authorities battle to restore water, power and phone services in the devastated city.
About 80 police officers were being sent from Auckland to the South Island to help with law enforcement amid reports of mounting frustration, fighting, serious back logs at petrol stations and traffic jams as people try to leave the city, news website stuff.co.nz reported.
Residents were evacuated from some areas because of disrupted power and water supplies, and an official state of emergency has been declared

San Zhi, Taiwan

As architecture evolves we often assume the infallibility of modern design.  San Zhi, Taiwan is an abandoned future city which shows us that jumping on trend too quickly can result in failure.  Curious.
“The area is called San Zhi. There are no named architects since the whole site was commissioned by the government and several local firms. They were trying to create a posh luxurious vacation spot for the affluent and rich streaming out of Taipei. Now this is where things get weird. The local papers say there were numerous accidents during its construction, and as news spread to the urbanites of the island state, nobody wanted to vacation there, much less visit. Locals say the area is now haunted by those who died in vain and because they are not remembered, they linger there unable to pass on.” - Transim

The site hower was demolished in 2008/9 to make way for a new development.
